The Westland Sea King HAR3: about the aircraft
The Westland Sea King HAR3 is a British licence-built version of the American Sikorsky S-61 helicopter built by AgustaWestland.
This artwork shows a RAF Westland Sea King HAR3 attending a civil emergency in the winter of 2010-2011 in Northumberland. The aircraft began service with the RAF in 1978, replacing the Westland Whirlwind and operated in a Search and Rescue role with 202 Squadron. Its main HQ was at RAF Valley with detached flights at RAF Boulmer, RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Leconfield. In September 2015, the aircraft was phased out of its SAR role and is no longer in service.
About the artwork
The original painting measures 594 x 841mm and is executed in Pastel.
The limited edition art print is printed on 310gsm Hahnemühle textured, acid-free, 100% rag paper using a 10-colour UltraChrome HDR pigment ink Giclée process. The print process is exceptionally faithful to the original art, is museum-grade and will not fade for around 75 years – unlike cheaper litho-prints.
The print has been reduced from the original painting to A3 size – 297mm x 420mm with an image area of 245mm x 350mm (meaning there is a paper border around the colour printed area). Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
The print is a Limited Edition of 250 copies.
